Members of the Senate Judiciary Sens. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., and Ted Cruz, R-Texas, have intensified their request for information from Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg concerning the removal of Instagram’s “warning screens” for child sexual abuse material.
In a letter revealed by CNBC, they demanded records and explanations about the feature’s management and its abrupt discontinuation last June, following scrutiny from The Wall Street Journal.
The bipartisan push for accountability follows after a heated Judiciary Committee hearing in January, where Zuckerberg faced questions from both sides regarding how many users clicked “see results anyway” after being warned a search “may contain images of child sexual abuse.”
