Report: Arafat’s Widow Helped With Hostage Release

The wife of former Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat is believed to have played a role in the release of Israeli-American hostage Edan Alexander.

Suha Arafat, according to the Jerusalem Post, helped arrange a communications conduit between the U.S. and Hamas, which eventually led to Alexander’s release. The Post attributed its reporting to the Al Mayadeen network, which it described as “Hezbollah-affiliated.”

The report said Suha Arafat has been a frequent critic of the Palestinian Authority. She’s claimed the PA has tried to keep her from being heard. Yasser Arafat died in 2004, with claims being made immediately after that he had been murdered.
