Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Friday warned his Chinese counterpart, Foreign Minister Wang Yi, of the “implications” if China supports Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and also reiterated the United States’ commitment to “peace and security” concerning Taiwan, according to a readout of their meeting on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.
“He also reiterated the United States’ condemnation of Russia’s war against Ukraine and highlighted the implications if the PRC were to provide support to Moscow’s invasion of a sovereign state,” according to the statement, issued by State Department Press Spokesman Ned Price and shared on Twitter by Wall Street Journal Reporter Vivian Salama.
“He underscored that the United States remains open to cooperating with the PRC where our interests intercept,” the statement concluded.
