The Justice Department charged Rep. LaMonica McIver, D-N.J., with assaulting, resisting, and impeding law enforcement officers during a recent confrontation outside an immigration detention center in Newark, New Jersey.

McIver was one of three New Jersey House Democrats who were at the detention facility on amid the confrontation with officers on May 9.

Alina Habba, the interim U.S. attorney for New Jersey, disclosed the move in a Monday night post on X.
