Israeli Consulate official Elad Shoshan told Newsmax on Tuesday that President Donald Trump has been “relentless” in his support of Israel.
On the second anniversary of the Oct. 7, 2023 Hamas terrorist attack against Israel, Shoshan told Newsmax’s “National Report” that “We’ve seen relentless activity and also perseverance of how much President Trump and also his entire staff, Jared Kushner and Steve Whitkoff and everybody in the staff, just working relentlessly about bringing back the hostages.”
Shoshan said most everyone in Israel is thankful for Trump’s leadership in achieving an initial peace framework with the Hamas terror group to release hostages and end the conflict.
“He wants to make this the deal of the Middle East,” Shoshan said. “And not only brokerage the ending of the war between Gaza and Israel, but also facilitating and expanding the Abraham Accords that he facilitated five years ago with the Israeli government.”
The Israeli diplomat serving the southwest United States said there’s still a lot to accomplish to bring peace to the region starting with the return of all hostages still held by Hamas.
“We need to get them back. That’s the most important thing to put an end to this war, and also to end the ruling governance of Hamas in Gaza.”
Peace talks between Israel and Hamas have resumed in Sharm el-Sheikh, mediated by Egypt, Qatar, and the U.S. The discussions center on a U.S.-backed 20-point plan involving Israeli troop withdrawals, hostage-prisoner exchanges, and transitional governance in Gaza.
Hamas has agreed to some elements but rejects full disarmament, a key Israeli demand. Disputes over security guarantees, governance, and ceasefire terms persist, though mediators express cautious optimism that a framework for a lasting truce could soon emerge.
